Retrograde is what is meant by the apparent action and motion of a planet as we view it from earth. As viewed from earth, a retrograde planet appears to be standing still and/or moving in a backwards motion. When a planet is in retrograde, its energies and their affects on us, individually and collectively, are amplified. An example of this in a physical nature would be if you ran in place instead of running in a constant forward movement. In running in a constant forward motion your view is continuously changing, but if you run in place for an extended period of time, you are looking at the same view for this increased amount of time. The Dreamtime: What is it Really? ~ Shamai Currim, PhD

My first thought on entering into and researching material for writing this paper on working with the Dreamtime was that I would be reviewing material that spoke to the dream space. In my naiveté I didn’t include the dreaming wish, the other worlds, or the steps beyond. While I have done much inner growth, have practiced mediation for many years, and have worked over the years with Shamans, Elders, Traditional Dreamers, Mystics and Saints, I had not been aware of the multitude of information that had in the past, and now in the present been revealed, with accuracy and with determination of spirit, to provide the physical provings so necessary in today’s concrete world. I had moved well beyond the symbolic language, journals, and lucid practices. I was eager to find, put into words, the experiences I have been living. (Read more…)

Clearing confusion on the Mayan Calendar meaning – Joyous Presence

Carlos Barrios, Mayan elder and Ajq’ij (is a ceremonial priest and spiritual guide) of the Eagle Clan. Carlos initiated an investigation into the different Mayan calendars circulating. Carlos along with his brother Gerardo studied with many teachers and interviewed nearly 600 traditional Mayan elders to widen their scope of knowledge.

Carlos found out quickly there were several conflicting interpretations of Mayan hieroglyphs, petroglyphs, Sacred Books of ‘Chilam Balam’ and various ancient text. Carlos found some strong words for those who may have contributed to the confusion:

Carlos Barrios:“Anthropologists visit the temple sites and read the inscriptions and make up stories about the Maya, but they do not read the signs correctly. It’s just their imagination. Other people write about prophecy in the name of the Maya. They say that the world will end in December 2012. The Mayan elders are angry with this. The world will not end.
