Have you ever walked on land where people had done or were doing ceremony? As you enter the the space it can feel like walking through a doorway or a veil, suddenly you feel lighter, like you have laid your burdens down. You breathe deep and full and feel yourself reconnecting to the Earth, life, the Creator. That is how I experience it.
Yesterday I had the privilege to join others to welcome in the first sunrise of this years Autumnal Equinox. It was pre dawn as I walked to the ceremony area, enough light to see the silhouette of the trees and bushes and to see the fire keepers who lovingly kept the light, the fire, going through the night. As I stepped through that veil, it felt like a sweet home coming. Others came, joined the circle and a dear spirit brother anchored us in ceremony, he faced East, called across the Sacred Fire to honor the Sun as it brought the first light of the new day. Prayers offered at fire by all rose to the Creator carried on smoke. There are many ceremonies that have at their center a Sacred Fire. The healing transmuting transforming energy of this being is present when the fire is built and maintained in traditional and sacred ways.
There are many quiet moments at a fire ceremony, much time to watch the flames and unite with the gentle, powerful energy, time to let the flame light wash the eyes and be pulled in with each breath.
Sometimes smoke blows over you, washing and clearing the aura, eyes might sting a bit and smoke be inhaled but its all part of the fires medicine. Our inner light recognizes the sacredness of this being, I think some how too it reaches into our cells and reminds us when man had lived in unity with the elements. A Sacred Fire is very healing; it’s done in many many ways across the Earth. If you haven’t been to one I encourage you to seek out people who are keeping this practice alive.
When Sacred Fire is repeatedly done in an area the land begins to hold more healing energy; our whole Earth is a Sacred Being who offers so much of herself to heal us. Humans hold memory sensations, the Earth does too and land that has been used for ceremony holds that memory vibration which is why it feels special. (Read more…)
